At the AGM our Treasurer, Pete Ford, explained that we had made an operating loss during 2010, due to buying the new net and sightscreen, but he said that subs and match fees covered the normal season expenditure. Despite this report, members voted that we should raise the subscriptions to £80 for full members, and students over 21 to £50. Students under 21 will still pay £30 annually. These new rates apply immediately, but as the discount of £10 (£5 for juniors) has already been advertised you can pay a lesser amount before 31 December 2010, and make a saving. Part of the reason for not making any profit during 2010 was the lack of support for our fund-raising events. Club chairman Gerry Bloomfield appealed to members to come along with friends and family to quiz, awards, and other functions we organise, but it was pointed out that those at the AGM did support events, and that the message must be aimed at the 30 or 40 other members who don’t turn up. So if that’s you, please make the effort during 2011.

One thing everybody can do is join the 100 Club, and get others to join too. Not only do you help the cricket club, but you could win one of the valuable prizes each month. Look on the website http://phcc.hitscricket.com/pages/page_1826/100Club.aspx for details of how to join or increase your tickets.

We elected Waseem Saber as 1st team captain with Ian Schmid his deputy, Nainesh Shah and Dilip Shah as 2nd team captain and vice captain, and James Ezzard and Matt Clothier in charge of the 3rd team – on Sundays the captain will be decided on the day.

Tim Powell has been elected as Club Captain, with the main aim of chairing selection meetings and the Cricket Sub-Committee. We are very conscious that Alan Chidley is quite poorly at the moment and we send him our best wishes for a speedy return to fitness. He may not be able to fulfil all the duties of Team Secretary, so Tim appealed for all members to be pro-active in terms of selection, using the club website to advise availability http://phcc.hitscricket.com/availability/default.aspx and keeping in touch during the weeks and months of the season. Nets are already in operation at Nower Hill on Saturday mornings, and the message from Tim is get there early, and bring along any potential members.
