WE NEED SOMEONE TO DO TEAS AT SADDLERS MEAD ....click HERE

19 Jun 2012

Details below. Do you know someone who could do this? Please let us know as soon as possible ..

Parkfield & Headstone CC are looking for somebody we can rely on to provide tea for 30 people at home games on every Saturday and occasional Sundays during the summer. You will provide soft drinks for players during the afternoon and buy all the food for tea, prepare it, lay it out in our clubhouse in Hatch End and clear up afterwards. We pay you £80 each time, so your profit depends on howmuch you spend. Cricket is affected by weather, but you must assume a game will be on unless we advise you otherwise. This may be as late as the morning of the game, but hopefully before you have been shopping! Obviously we must have reliable phone numbers to contact you. Hopefully you will have your own transport, but arrangements may be made occasionally for a lift.

Traditionally cricket teas involve sandwiches, crisps, cakes, fruit andsweets, tea and juice. Many players in our League are vegetarian, so a 50/50approach to inclusive catering is required. Our small clubhouse kitchen has electric and microwave ovens (perhaps for warming up pizzas, samosas, etc),fridge, storage and washing up facilities, and a range of plates, cups, cutlery and other crockery. Normally we have exclusive use of the clubhouse, but occasionally we have to clear up quickly to allow private hirers access for parties in the clubhouse. Games start at 1pm, cold drinks are usually required around 2:30pm (others can do this if necessary), buffet style tea isexpected to be ready for when the innings finishes around 4pm (you may need to refill a teapot), and drinks prepared for the second innings about 6pm (the players serve themselves).

There is no set way of providing cricket teas - some clubs prepare a sitdown sandwich meal, others simply provide cut up French bread and the ingredients to do it yourself. One point to note is that there are only 20 - 25 minutes available for the players to clear your table. Variety is also good - one of our previous ladies ranged from ice cream and ice lollies in hot weather to chicken drumsticks and chips - she was very popular! Nobody yet has baked cakes or scones - why not? But the very basic sandwich tea, bought at the last minute from the local supermarket is also acceptable if there is enough and it is presented well.

You don't really need to understand, or even like, cricket, but you must be prepared for interaction with many different multi-cultural players, mostly men but occasionally they bring their ladies and children along. Some will be highly tuned athletes, but most just enjoy a friendly game and good company in a sporting atmosphere. Our club bar will be open most match day evenings. And finally, if you really want to, there may be occasions to prepare a buffet for quiz nights or similar events on weekdays during the year.
